We all realise that the climate and nature emergencies are one and the same and that businesses are key actors, along with governments, the public and civil society, if we are going to save the planet for the next generations. We love nature and wild places and I'm sure you do too. And without the support system that biodiversity provides, we have a problem.

Anne Veck Limited was one of the first U.K. salon businesses to take comprehensive sustainability action, including achieving Carbon Neutral certification (by Carbon Footprint Limited). Now we have sold our salons, we are also involved with "business and biodiversity", working to spread the message that, whatever the size and sector, your business can aim to be nature positive.

And this includes salon owners and freelance hairdressers.

Here are some opportunities to get involved and make a difference...

Join the UK Business and Biodiversity Forum CIC, a business led initiative exploring ways businesses can act to reverse the decline in nature. Keith is a director of the company, so do call him on 01865 744612 if you would like to know more.

He is also a business ambassador for Oxfordshire's Nature Recovery Network and similar networks are now being launched across England. So look out for these in your area and do get involved. It is important that hairdressing and the personal care sector makes its voice heard and gets involved.

Discover what "Nature Positive" actually means and start your business journey. Take the Nature Positive Business Pledge!

If you love fashion then you should sign up for the Slow Fashion Season : a challenge to not buy any new fast fashion for 30 days and beyond, please find the link HERE.  Anne is proud to be a Global Ambassador for the Slow Fashion Movement. Check out her video Toxic Fashion.

We have written the Anne Veck Limited Nature Positive Business Plan, which describes our nature impact baseline and sets SMART targets for the business to become more nature positive, step by step. Here it is, please do let us know what you think about it. We hope it will help you set out on your nature positive journey!

For something really exciting, think about getting involved in rewilding and nature recovery, either in the U.K. or abroad. Anne and Keith are associated landowners with Portuguese NGO ATNatureza at their stunning 1,000 hectare nature reserve Faia Brava, a core area within the huge Greater Coa Valley rewilding project in Portugal. If you are intrigued and interested, call Keith on 01865 744612.
